The first food I tried in Mexico--after the obligatory chips and salas, of course--was cactus salad. It tasted surprisingly like soba noodles, green of course, covered in bits of avocado, cheese, and other mexican bits of deliciousness. Nopal is now on my ´eat regularly´ list.
I landed in Mexico around 72 hours ago for 10 weeks of study at a Mexican business school called IPADE. It feels (in a good way) like I´ve been here much longer. Perhaps the same strange forces of time that cause lunch to start two hours late in Mexico, also stretch out the days. I´m slowly settling in. Thus far, I´ve acquired a cell phone (after two trips to TelCel to figure out how to make the thing work); lost the card that comes with it; temporarily moved into something that vaguely resembles an apartment (more on this later); and discovered--after a day of panic--that my computer does, in fact work on the mexican power grid... it just happens to be a piece of junk that sometimes doens´t work at all.
More stories soon. Until then, Que te vayan bien, amigos!
